It is not easy to get out of your comfort zone in poker but you need to try and get out so you can go for your long-term goal of winning more. Here are some steps that you can take to achieve this:

Ask for help

If you will not be asking for help, you might not be able to execute the other steps. A poker buddy or a coach will assist you in understanding yourself while keeping you motivated. The other persons will be a good reinforcement so you can stick to your improvement programs.

Start small

Change will not happen over night. So you need to take it one step at a time. Pick a small mission that you want to work hard for and achieve. Having realistic goals will help you to act on it more often, overcome challenges, and build your confidence.

Commitment

You need to give it your all if you want to improve your game. Commitment will lead to pride when you achieve your goals. Your support group should recognize and praise your achievements while giving you feedback for your shortcomings.

Identify challenges

You need to point the forces which will affect how you think and focus. You need to address the problem and dissect why you fail in some areas and succeed in some.

Short-term price

You need to accept the fact that there will be a period when you will be very uncomfortable as you try to implement the changes to your poker game.

Tilting on the poker table

If you have been playing poker for a while or if you have been watching tournaments on television, then you may be familiar with the term “tilting”.

chips blue whiteTilting in poker simply describes poor play when one lets go of his usual game after getting a bad beat on the table. Aside from bad beats, bad luck like not getting any good hands at all can tilt you on the table. Same is true when you fold against a bluff by an opponent and finding that you have a more superior hand.

Dealing with the different degrees of tilt

Some perceive tilting as a player going all in for every hand that he gets. You will see this happening on poker tables but there are still other degrees of tilting that you will see.

If you were outplayed by another player and you force the issue by playing your cards despite unfavorable odds, you are also considered on a tilt. It is also a same case if you bet more often when you see a person who outplayed you play the pot. When you play a hand where you usually will fold, you are also on a tilt.
